For many kids, sharing a bedroom is a natural part of growing up. Depending on the size of your home and your living situation, it might be unavoidable, but it isn't something your kids should deal with forever. At some point, your kids will need a space to call their own. This isn't just a case of privacy as they grow up and become more aware of themselves and others; it also boasts an array of benefits that can help the entire family.

    They Learn Independence

Giving your child a space to call their own is a fantastic way for them to learn independence which in turn will encourage self-esteem and help them perform better at school and in social settings.

By being trusted with a room of their own, whether for play or sleep, your kids can learn what it is like to take care of their things and also get used to being by themselves. If they always had someone nearby, they would never get comfortable or familiar with spending time by themselves, which can have a dramatic impact on development and self-sufficiency when they grow up.

You Can Keep The Rest of the House Clean

If your child is prone to leaving toys and games littered around the house, a space to call theirs will cut down on the mess and the clutter that seems never-ending.

Confining all of their playthings to a single room, whether a bedroom or even Garden Rooms (which can be ideal for summer play), will mean they won't lose things as often and you can keep the house in order more easily. You'll never need to worry about stepping on sharp Lego bricks or tripping over Spiderman ever again.

Parents Can Work or Relax Together

If you and your partner work from home, it can feel like you're never able to get a moment;'s peace, especially during school holidays. This will all change once your child has a dedicated room that's just for them.

Instead of running around the house recreating space battles or epic scenes they've seen in their favourite superhero films, they will do everything in their bedroom. This will allow you to get your tasks done throughout the day and you might even have enough time to settle down on the sofa to catch up on your latest bingeable series.

    You Can Build Trust

Depending on how old your child is, you can use this opportunity to build trust with them. They will now be responsible for tidying up after themselves and even keeping the room clean. The sooner they catch onto this and prove they're capable, the sooner you can trust them to do chores around the house and learn vital skills that will help them later in their life. This space isn't just a place for them now, but something that ensures they are ready for living by themself.

    Their Space

Whether your kids need their own space to play, sleep or do their homework, everyone will experience the benefits that come from giving them their own space. If you feel your kids are ready to grow up and demonstrate independence and show you can trust them, consider how you can give them the space they need.
