Bringing the Outside Inside for Autumn

Making your home cosy and autumnal is one of the best parts of this time of year. The crunch of the golden leaves underfoot, the bright sunshine in the crisp blue sky and that autumn chill that's cool enough to flush your cheeks but isn't bitter enough to be winter; autumn is full of delights so what better way to celebrate them by bringing them into your home.

    Create a Window Display

Nature looks incredible in autumn so what better time of year to bring the outside in. Making a window display is a great way to showcase the beautiful autumn copper colours. Start by finding a vase or empty jar that you like the shape of and fill in with all the beautiful leaves, twigs and pine cones you find outside. Then include some battery powered string fairy lights which can twinkle making the homemade display look extra special. Placed in front of sash windows like the ones from Mighton , these displays can look amazing and really effective.

Planting autumn planting bulbs indoors is a wonderful way to create a vibrant window display that brightens your home during the cooler months. Bulbs like daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths can be easily planted in containers and placed on a sunny windowsill, where they'll gradually develop into stunning blooms. As they grow, these flowers bring a burst of color and a touch of nature inside, transforming your windows into a living art display.

    Log Burner

If you haven't already got a log burner, autumn is definitely the perfect season to invest in one. There's nothing nicer than snuggling up on the sofa on a cold November evening with a log burner flickering away in the corner keeping the whole house warm. A log burner also means bringing a little autumn in as you can find amazing pieces of wood in the woods when out on autumn walks and they give off a lovely authentic smell. Additionally, they also keep heating bills lower as they warm the whole house through so are a wise purchase as well as an aesthetic one.

    Add Colour

Autumn colours are some of the most gorgeous so why not give your home a renovation to reflect the changing of the seasons. Adding a little orange, copper or red to the décor can give your home a whole new look and doesn't have to be permanent. Autumn scented candles are another great way to bring the outside in with gorgeous seasonal smells like Pumpkin and spiced cranberry, the perfect fragrances for making your home smell delicious for nestling in.

These are just some of the easy and quick ways you can bring a little bit of the season into your home this year. All of these low cost ideas can quickly and easily be incorporated into your home to give it a beautiful autumnal edge.
