When it comes to dangerous winter jobs, you can come to the most harm from seemingly simple home repairs. So, here are some that almost always require a professional touch.

    At Home Landscaping

During the winter, some animals find shelter in your garden. So, if you want to change the look of your garden, you shouldn't get rid of shrubs and trees. Getting rid of trees and plants is hard. So you will almost always need the help of a tree surgeon. Also, if you cut things the wrong way, it can be pretty dangerous. But there are also things to think about when dealing with shrubs, hedges, and trees. By law, birds, foxes, and hedgehogs can't be hurt, and you can get fined.

    Servicing Your Boiler

One of the dumbest things you can do over winter, or at any time really, is service your boiler yourself. Of course, it is more likely to fail in winter because you use it far more to keep warm. However, attempting to repair your boiler is dangerous and illegal in some places. You see, boilers release carbon monoxide, which needs to be filtered properly. If not, it will fill your home and kill everyone inside. And without a CO alarm, you won't even know it is happening.

Dangerous Winter Jobs Include Aerial Alignment

With more and more of your entertainment being streamed on services like Netflix, you may not use your TV aerial anymore. Yet it is required to receive certain transmissions you might still watch. But the wind and weather can realign your aerial on the roof, and a simple push is all that is needed to resume service. However, there are around 30 deaths per year from TV alignments in the UK alone. Almost all from slipping while on the roof. So always call a professional for this.

    Fixing the Roof

Going onto the roof is always somewhat risky. But even if you're not in danger, you can really mess it up if you don't know what you're doing. So, roofing needs a professional touch. If your roof isn't done right, it will cause problems for the rest of your home. Most notably, problems to do with water. A bad roof job can cause ice to expand gaps between tiles. But also allow water to enter your home and cause other issues like mould, dampness and electrical failure.

Fixing Your Car on the Side of the Road

It is a nightmare when your car breaks down at any time of the year. But in winter, it's especially frustrating because of the cold. Yet you will increase your chances of something bad happening if you try to fix a broken down car at the roadside. Even more so if you are in winter conditions like ice and snow since an incoming vehicle could hit you. Therefore, it is best to call a tow truck from your roadside assistance provider and await a pickup to safety.

    Summary

The list of dangerous winter jobs is massive. But some you definitely leave to the professionals include major landscaping at home, TV aerial alignment and fixing your vehicle at the roadside.
