This year Christmas is chaotic to say the least. It's the first Christmas I have been properly working on this blog and it has been utterly crazy, definitely my busiest time of year! I know that it will all go quiet again in January so I'm making the most and taking on all the work I can but that has meant that other things have gone on hold.
Primula are holding a Little Moments of Christmas Chaos campaign at the moment, encouraging everyone to stop pretending that their Christmas is perfect and embracing those chaotic moments for what they are. So I thought I would share with you how our Christmas is looking so far...
Christmas Food
Normally by now I'd have flipped through the recipe books, written down a menu plan and ordered the food. This year there is no plan and I did the food shop today by just throwing anything that looked Christmassy into the trolley. It made for an expensive Aldi shop and I think I just bought a lot of desserts...certainly not a turkey in sight!
Christmas Shopping
This year we did a big Toys R Us shop back in November but we just meandered around the store picking up bits. I've since ordered a tonne of stuff off the internet but I have no idea who is getting what, who has more than who and how much I have spent! Not all of it has arrived yet either, and don't start me on the wrapping!! Extended friends and family are going to have to be happy with a £20 note stuffed into their cards because there's no way I'm dragging 3 children around the shops now!
Christmas Cards
I also have no Christmas cards bought or even written, with no idea of the last posting day either (probably last week!). I really need to send at least a couple to special people so that is going to have to be top of my priorities next week, or else I'll be forking out for the expensive stamps!
Christmas Plans
We have absolutely nothing planned for the break, bar one playdate and Christmas Day of course. Normally I have a list of places to take the children and things to do, but this year it seems like we all just want to stay in and do nothing and recover from the busiest year ever.
Christmas Blogs
Oh, and if you were looking for some great Christmas craft ideas and recipes like you might have found on here in past years, look elsewhere because this year we haven't managed it!
Despite all this, I know that this year will be the best Christmas ever, because it always is. As long as I have my (not so) little family around me, that's all that matters, even if we are eating sandwiches for Christmas lunch as I didn't get around to buying a turkey!!
You can view or download the 'Primula Little Moments of Christmas Chaos' booklet for free. Inside you can also find recipes, ideas for games and hints and tips for surviving and embracing the little moments of Christmas chaos!
You can join in and share your own moments of chaos or some of your own Christmas survival plans using the hashtag #LittleMomentsOfChristmasChaos on social media.
