    A Handmade Baby Play Mat

    Jun 27, 2014 by Ali · 4 Comments

I thought I would share with you a little project I have been working on for the baby - a quilted baby play mat.

Ages ago (before I was even pregnant I think) I bought this great fabric panel of bright alphabet letters by Robert Kaufman. I meant to make it into a play mat to sell but I was too busy with custom orders to ever get round to it. When I was clearing out my little studio/office I found it and decided to make the play mat for the baby.

It was a really simple make - a simple quilt sandwich using the Ikea words fabric I had leftover from my window bench project which you can see here but I realise I haven't actually blogged about yet (bad blogger!!) and a simple black binding. I quilted around the letters on the fabric panel and that was it. So simple yet so bright and gorgeous, I cannot wait to use it!
