    Healthy Lunch Box Ideas

    Aug 30, 2016 by Ali · Leave a Comment

    Healthy Lunch Box Ideas

Both my girls take packed lunches to school. They are really fussy eaters and with packed lunches at least I know they have been given a healthy lunch and I can check what they have eaten. I like to mix up what they are eating all the time so they try new food and I find they get bored of the same choices.

I'm always reading blogs and looking at Pinterest for lunchbox ideas and so I thought I would share with you what a typical week's lunch menu looks like in our house in case I can provide you with some inspiration!

    Monday

    Quorn Ham sandwiches

Home made tortilla crisps with hummus

    Satsumas

    Fromage frais

    Tuesday

    Cheese spread wraps

    Carrot sticks with hummus

    Grapes

    Jelly Pot

    Wednesday

    Quorn sausage rolls

    Dried apricots

    Pineapple & cheese pieces

    Chocolate stars

    Thursday

    Cold pasta

    Cucumber sticks

    Fromage frais

    Fruit roll up

    Friday

    Homemade hazelnut spread sandwiches

    Strawberries

    Homemade tortilla crisps

    Cheese stick

    Jelly pot

As you can see I like to try and mix it up a bit and not stick to just sandwiches or else I find they will get bored. Every day there is a little treat in there like a yoghurt or jelly pot or even a small piece of chocolate. If they don't eat all their lunch one day, the next day there won't be a treat so this works as a really good incentive to get them to eat their lunch. Fridays I like to treat them a little bit more.

The children are vegetarian (except Bean who will now eat chicken nuggets) and they love jelly pots which are usually not vegetarian friendly. We have found that the some of the one from Hartley's are suitable for vegetarians which is great. I've put the list below in case it helps some other vegetarian families...

    Hartley's Pineapple in Jelly 175g
Hartley's 10 Cal Mango & Passion Fruit Flavour Jelly 175g
    Hartley's 10 Cal Blueberry & Blackcurrant Flavour Jelly 175g
    Hartley's 10 Cal Raspberry Flavour Jelly 175g
    Hartley's 1 Fruit Portion Mango Jelly 175g
    Hartley's Blackcurrant Flavour Jelly 125g
    Hartley's Lemon & Lime Flavour Jelly 125g
    Hartley's Pineapple Flavour Jelly 125g
Hartley's No Added Sugar Jelly Blackcurrant Flavour 115g
Hartley's No Added Sugar Jelly Apple Flavour 115g

Hartley's have a special promotion running too at the moment which means if you collect the pots with a green top you can save them up and send off for your own Hartley's lunchbox. The girls were sent one each and  they loved them and can't wait to take them to school!
