A Behind-the-Scenes Income Report
Hey everyone! I’m excited to share my monthly income report from my parenting and lifestyle blog, We Made This Life. If you’ve ever dreamed of earning a living from your passion for writing and connecting with others, I hope this breakdown inspires you to see what’s possible. Blogging can be a rewarding way to not only share your journey and expertise but also create a source of income on your own terms.

This post contains affiliate links and I may receive a small commission if you visit a link and buy something. Purchasing via an affiliate link doesn’t cost you any extra, and I only recommend products and services I trust. I may have been sent some of the products in this post free of charge or paid to feature them here. Thank you for supporting this blog.

Why I’m Sharing This
It can be hard to know where to start when it comes to monetizing a blog, and income reports can be a great way to lift the curtain on how bloggers earn money. My hope is to inspire others by providing real examples of what goes into turning a blog into a source of income.
Income Breakdown for October 2024
1. Sponsored Posts
Sponsored posts are a major part of my income and involve working directly with brands to promote their products or services through tailored content. This month, I collaborated with 44 brands on various campaigns. The key is to focus on partnerships that resonate with you and your audience, creating content that remains authentic and useful.
Total Earned: £3462
2. Affiliate Revenue
Affiliate marketing involves promoting products and services through special tracking links, earning a commission whenever someone makes a purchase through my link. I only promote products I truly believe in, which makes it easier to recommend them to my readers.
Total Earned: £11.97
3. Advertising Revenue
Display ads on my blog provide a passive income stream. I work with Mediavine to earn money from views and clicks on ads placed throughout my site. While it’s a more “set and forget” type of revenue, it does fluctuate based on traffic levels.
Total Earned: £105.61
Total Income for October 2024: £3579.58

Reflections and Insights
This month has been a journey of growth and learning. From negotiating new brand partnerships to testing different types of affiliate content, I continue to refine how I monetize the blog in ways that benefit both me and my readers. Here are some key takeaways from this month:
• Authenticity Matters: Staying true to your voice and values resonates with your readers and attracts the right kind of partnerships.
• Diversifying Income Streams: Having multiple ways to earn (sponsored posts, affiliates, ads) means you’re less reliant on one source. I'd like to increase my AD revenue next month.
• Consistency is Key: The more you show up for your blog and audience, the more it will show up for you.
Final Thoughts
If you’re considering starting a blog or want to take your current blog to the next level, know that it’s a journey. It requires persistence, passion, and a willingness to adapt. But with dedication, blogging can open up new opportunities and provide a source of income you can build around your life.
