Every parent should find the best ways to nurture their kids and help them grow up healthy and happy, and you should do this as soon as possible. Ideally, this is right after your baby is born so you can help them grow, develop their personality, and be as much fun as everyone expects them to be.

However, newborns are not exactly the most capable. While they might babble, cry, and roll over, it feels like there is not a lot you can do with them, at least not in the first few months. This isn't the case, though. There are many games and activities you can do with your newborn to give them a leg-up and help them grow.

    Keep Them Safe

It should go without saying that you must keep your baby safe at all costs. You must protect them from the cold, from the heat, from illness or injury. So, fill your home with blankets, or set up baby gates that will discourage them from wandering off when they learn to crawl or walk.

Your baby will feel safest pressed against your stomach, so let them do this as often as possible, especially during the first few months. They are bound to spend most of their time sleeping anyway, and if they feel safe against your body, they won’t cry as much as you expect.

Provide Them With the Right Nutrients

Babies need the proper nutrients to help their bones grow and keep them healthy. There is a wide range of options for you to consider before they start teething. Organic baby food is popular, while Mama Body Tea can benefit you and your baby, especially if you’re still breastfeeding.

These nutrients can develop an unconscious habit of healthy eating, which is something they will need to continue as they grow up and become more independent. Of course, they aren't going to enjoy the mushy baby food, but it can set them up for a lifetime of healthy eating.

    Play Games With Them

Whether it’s peek-a-boo, finding hidden objects, or just laughing at their reflection after the initial confusion, there are many games you can play with your baby. These can keep them entertained around the house and make them laugh, which is perfect for keeping them happy.

They will also love to hold things like rattles or squeaky toys. You can use these in games, as the bright colours and sounds, especially new sounds, will grab their attention.

    Encourage Them to Explore

Once your child gets old enough to crawl, they have a whole new world to explore all by themselves. You must babyproof your home before this happens, but once it’s ready, they have free rein to go wherever they like, and they won’t move so fast that they will leave your sight too quickly.

Getting the chance to explore the home will inspire curiosity in your baby. They will learn more about obstacles, climb over steps, and also realise there are some parts of the home that are off-limits for now. This is for their safety until they are old enough, though.

    Engage Their Brains

You can also find ways to help them grow their brain by singing to them or playing music. There will be a time where you can’t have a conversation with them, but singing little limericks or jingles around the home while feeding or changing them can make them laugh and motivate them to listen to you.

They might not understand what you are saying, but it can set the groundwork for when they learn to talk.

    Talk To Them

All parents talk to their babies as soon as they are born even though they know that they will not get anything in return. However, the more you talk to them, the faster their language skills will develop.

What starts as baby babble will eventually become nearly recognisable words until they can formulate mamas or dadas, or even something else. Usually, this is a family member, but they might surprise you by pulling out a more complex word, which is proof you have a little genius growing steadily in your home. Probably.

    Healthy and Happy

Your baby won’t become a super genius overnight, but finding ways to teach them and engage with them, while ensuring they get all the important nutrients will ensure their first few months in years on this earth are healthy and happy. While they still depend on you for everything, you can do as much as you can to provide the perfect environment for them, and these ideas are the best place to begin.
