Our One Day Holiday in Cardiff Bay

    Aug 18, 2016 · Modified: Mar 18, 2017 by Ali · Leave a Comment

The summer holidays can be an expensive business and this year we have chosen to save money by not going abroad on holiday but instead have been visiting different places in the UK. We recently spent some time in London and went camping on Swansea's Gower for 2 nights but we have also had little day trips out to our local area.

We were challenged this week into going on a one day holiday for £100 by Ocean Loans . Going out with kids can be expensive so I always research what we are going to do beforehand and take a look to see if I can find vouchers and money saving offers.  With some careful budgeting I was sure that we could make the budget last the day and have some real fun.

We decided to head into Cardiff Bay because there is so much to do there it would really feel like a little holiday.

We drove there and managed to find a spot to park on the road that was free instead of paying for the car park. I always try to do this, I don't mind walking a little further if I don't have to spend money on car parking. £FREE

First we headed to Techniquest which is a wonderful science museum for kids. Entry for 1 adult and 2 children (Little Boy goes free) is £19.50

After that we headed to Pizza Express for a spot of lunch. I found a voucher code online for 25% off food so our meals including drinks and deserts cost £25.

After lunch we had a little rest on Cardiff Bay Beach. It is really a fantastic place with sand, a paddling pool and rides and shops. It is free to go on but we spent a little money on rides and sweets. £15.

After that we were tired out so headed into the Odeon Cinema a short walk away. We went to see The Secret Life of Pets which was great. Tickets and popcorn came to £32. Wow the cinema is expensive. Usually we stick to the morning kids shows which are £2.50 a ticket.

In total we spent £91.50 so we still had change from our budget. We had a fabulous day, and it really felt like a little holiday with some fun times, a trip to the beach, lunch out in a restaurant and a cinema trip all in one day!

Do you have a great place you can recommend to go for family days out like this?

Disclosure - this is a collaborative post.
