Have you ever been to Liverpool? It's a fantastic city to visit, it's got great transport links and is a relatively compact city which means it is easy to get around and make the most of a day there. You can travel there by road, train, bus or ferry and they even have a CityBike bike hire scheme so you can pick up a bike at the station and travel around the city on that for the day if your children are older. Read on to find out more things to do in Liverpool with kids.
There is so much to do and see in Liverpool, it's a really modern, vibrant city and you can have a really great day out here with children. Here are a few things that I plan to do there when we visit.
First up we would take a look at the World Museum. You can see everything here from ancient Egyptian artefacts to Dinosaurs, to the Planetarium and Aquarium. There's definitely something for children of all ages there and best of all it is free to enter which leaves more money for activities later in the day.
After a morning spent there we would be ready for lunch I'm sure! We'd head over to Liverpool ONE for a spot of lunch in one of the many Liverpool ONE restaurants that are within this huge shopping, food and entertainment complex. There is an absolutely huge selection of restaurants here and there will definitely be somewhere that all your family will enjoy eating. Afterwards it would be rude not to indulge in a little retail therapy of course!
We'd then spend the afternoon exploring the city via river on a Mersey Ferry River Explorer Cruise. This would mean we could learn more about Liverpool's maritime past while taking a look at the sights along the river. It is a hop on, hop off tour which is great as we could get off and explore when we come across a stop that we are interested in.
Honestly, there is so much to do in Liverpool with children that I don't think one day there would really do it justice, I'd be tempted to stay for a long weekend to really see all that the city has to offer properly. I'd like to visit the Tate Modern museum there and take the children to one of the fantastic parks the city has to offer like Sefton Park and of course if you have a little football fan a tour of Everton Stadium is a must!
