    Speak to friends and family

A great place to start is to speak with any friends and family you are close to, this can help you set up a great support network, especially if they are parents themselves. Having that experience around to support you and offer guidance can really help you when you are unsure. It is also great to have friends and daily you can rely on around you should you struggle when you get a baby home, having them to come round and take some pressure off while you are settling in can be a life saver for new parents. Having that safety net should you need a night off or if you just need a chance to catch up with some sleep can really help you stay on top as a parent. It can be hard to take a step back but sometimes it can really help you to get back a hold of the reins and keep yourself together.

    Prepare your pets

With new children it can be a daunting time for pets so getting them prepared can be important, it can take them time to adjust, and they can be quite protective once they realise how precious they are. This is cute but can also be dangerous as they can become over protective, they can also try to sleep with the babies and in some cases on them which as you can imagine is dangerous. It is best to introduce them slowly and not straight away and to do it in a calm environment, also try and have places that are blocked off that you can put your pets in so they can have their own space and place to go when they get a bit too excited.

Try and prepare some food in advance

When you get your child home, it can be a hectic time, so make sure you have taken some time to get meals prepared in advance. Thai can really help to take the pressure off and make sure you are still eating well without as much effort while you adjust to your new life structure. It can be easy to get into a rut of not cooking or eating, and even just dining on takeaway. This is not healthy especially if you are breastfeeding, as this needs a balanced diet to remain healthy for you and the baby.

Setup the house for your new arrival

Getting the house setup for the arrival of your new child is one of the first things you will likely think about. You can get the nursery setup however you like and get the furniture you need and want for your child. You also need to make sure you get some supplies for the baby, whether that be nappies, toys, bedding and baby boy or baby girl clothes. There are lots of supplies you could need for the arrival of your baby. As well as all the supplies and furnishings needed for a new child, you can also start cleaning the house more often, not because you have to but more in anticipation of having less time to do so. You can also work on more storage solutions to stop the house getting cluttered and keep it from getting messy so you do not have to worry about making time to clean when you are snowed under with the new baby.

If you are welcoming a new addition to the family but you are unsure how you can prepare for their arrival. Then these few tips should help you to understand what can be done to help with your preparations and make sure that welcoming your new child home can be less stressful and more exciting.
