    Understand your monthly spend

One of the first things you should do is understand your monthly expenditure. What this means is working out exactly what you are spending each month whether that is bills or just going out for coffee. You need to note everything to get a true idea of what you are spending. What this will allow you to do is offset this against your income and know your exact disposable income once everything is paid, with this known you can work out how much you can afford to save.

Try to save on your bills where you can

It is a good idea to go down your list of bills and work out where you may be able to shave off some money. This will allow you to free up more money into your disposable income, not only can you do this by changing your tariffs but you can also be sensible at home and try to save money on your energy bill by turning off unused lights and stop using standby on your devices. You should also be always on the lookout for the best electricity deals and best deals you can get on things like tv and wifi this can save you a lot of money each month.

Try and do things yourself where you can

Things like repairs and DIY you should try and do it yourself as long as it is something you can actually do. When it comes to getting someone in to do jobs this can cost you a lot of money so if you are able to do it yourself then you have a chance to save yourself a lot of money, this can then be put into your savings and spent on something you want rather than giving it to someone else to spend. If you do have to get someone in to do a job then make sure you are getting comparison quotes and getting the best for your money otherwise you can end up spending more than necessary.

If you are looking to start saving your money no matter what it is for and you are unsure how to get started or you are looking for some ideas then hopefully, these few tips will give you some understanding of what you can do to start saving money and get you on track to your goals.
