Top Tips In Prioritising Your Family's Mental Health Summer 2022

Summer is a great time to bring the family together and make lasting memories. It can be uniquely challenging when you're dealing with your own or your children's mental health issues such as anxiety and ADHD. After talking with your doctor, you can explore various ways to manage these issues, including prescription medicines, lifestyle changes, and Brillia ADHD. You can also take charge of your summer by following these tips to prioritize your family's mental health this summer.

    Foundations of Mental Wellness

Mental health is complex and determined by various environmental and genetic factors, such as stress in the home or at school, previous experiences of trauma, hormone levels, and more. In some cases, prescriptions and other anxiety relief medication can determine how well you function doing day-to-day tasks. As another starting point to managing your family's mental wellness, you can work on the foundational aspects of overall health.

First, make sure everyone is getting enough sleep. Next, look at what you eat as a family and try to include colorful vegetables, fruits, and fresh foods so that you avoid nutrient deficiencies. Then, assess how much time you spend looking at screens, including for work and pleasure. Reducing screen time can dramatically improve mental health. Finally, work on being more mindful and present with your family. Active listening and deep conversation are critical for connecting and healing.

Summer Activities That Support Mental Health

There are many activities you can do with your family to inspire, motivate, and connect over new experiences. Getting outdoors is probably one of the most important things you can do with your family, but if you can't splurge on camping equipment or a road trip through the mountains, there are plenty of other ways to get your hands dirty. Here are seven valuable activities you can do during the summer that will help support your family's mental health:

    1. Visit a Petting Zoo
    2. Volunteer on a Farm
    3. Plant a Vegetable Garden or Flower Patch
    4. Grow Windowsill Herbs from Seeds
    5. Conduct At-Home Science Experiments
    6. Hold a Storytelling Contest
    7. Spend a Night Stargazing

Talking to Your Family About Anxiety

Activities and exercise can keep your family having fun and making memories together, but nothing replaces the simple but important impact of having a conversation about mental health and anxiety. It may feel uncomfortable to address these issues if it is not already an established habit in your household. Yet, once you take the first step to inquire about and discuss mental health, your family will benefit from the safe environment. You may discover that there are common issues you can help with before they become dire circumstances.

Although there is a heavy stigma surrounding discussions of mental health, the more you talk openly about these issues within your family, the more equipped you will be to deal with them in a healthy way. When you need extra support, consider Brillia, a homeopathic product to help manage anxiety and ADHD in adults and children. Check out Brillia reviews to hear how this solution has changed lives.
