I absolutely love tulips - they are so easy to grow and provide a brilliant pop of colour in the springtime. The hardest thing about growing tulips I think is choosing color combinations, there are so many different colors it is difficult to know all the different color tulips that are available. In this post I'm going to show you some beautiful tulips and hopefully give you some ideas on how to grow tulips and what colors to pick.
How To Grow Tulips
Tulips grow from tulip bulbs and are planted in the autumn. In theory they are perennial which means they should flower every year, but in reality in the UK you will likely need to plant new bulbs every year. They should be planted in soil about 20cm deep and 5cm away from the next bulb. Plant them with the tip pointing upwards.
Tulips don't like too much water so keep the soil moist but it should have good drainage. Tulips can also be grown in pots so they are great for small gardens or balconies. You can get early or late flowering tulips so if you combine the two you could have a long lasting tulip display. If you can get them, Dutch tulip bulbs are one of the best - we all know that Amsterdam is famed for it's tulip displays.

Tulips color meaning
Different tulip colors are known to have different meanings. Red is for love and romance, pink is for showing you care. White is for purity, yellow is for spring and happiness and purple is for royalty. Personally I just plant tulips in color combinations that I think look pretty but if you were buying tulips as a gift this is interesting to know.
Color blend tulips
You can get the most beautiful tulip color blends. These are just so beautiful and are extra special. They will give your garden that extra wow factor and will definitely be admired by everyone who sees them. The bulbs of the more exotic and beautiful color combinations can be a little bit more expensive but if you have the money to splash out they are definitely worth it.
Rare tulip colors
You can get several rare tulip varieties and one of the rarest colors to find is black. Indeed even so called black tulips are really a very deep purple. There is one color though that doesn't appear at all in tulips and that is blue. Many gardeners have tried to cultivate and hybridise a truly blue tulip but to date no one has been successful.
I hope that you found this post all about what color tulips are there in the world useful. Share it with your friends and Pin it for later...
