    Purchase Versatile Cookware

Having too many pans to cook different dishes isn't ideal when you have a small kitchen. It is best to find a great pan that is large enough and versatile enough to cook a variety of different dishes. To put it simply, you don't need more pots and pans than the number of spaces you have to cook on your oven. When looking to purchase versatile cookware, stainless steel cookware is well worth the cost , as it is long-lasting, versatile and ergonomic.

    Utilize Cabinets

Although your cabinets may not hold enough, there are ways to utilize the space. Most importantly, take this time to give away foods that aren't being used, or use them! When you have a small kitchen, there is no use keeping things that aren't going to get used. Use the inside of your cabinets to stick hooks that can be used for oven gloves or dish towels. You can also screw in handy racks that hold measuring cups or other utensils. If you have space on the side of your cabinets, use this as another storage system to create hanging spaces or mini shelves.

    Create Shelving

Wherever you have space on the walls, use this to create some shelving. This is a great way to add cabinet space when you don't have much room. If you need some inspiration, check out these 17 shelving ideas to boost storage in your kitchen.

Add Hanging Racks for Your Pans

Pots and pans often take up a lot of room inside cabinets. If you have a safe space to add a hanging rack for your pans, do so. You can find hanging racks that go on the ceiling, making use of the space and probably freeing up a whole cabinet in the kitchen.

    Use a Magnetic Knife Strip

Knife blocks can often take up valuable counter space that is needed during cooking. Adding knives into a drawer isn't the safest option either. You can find magnetic knife strips at most cookware stores, from as little as $20. This allows knives to be in an accessible space on the wall, freeing up more space for cooking. Make sure you get good quality knives that will last - these are some great ones - best kitchen knives uk.

    Get a Spice Rack

A spice rack is a great way to put all your spices in an easy to reach space. If you don't have room for a spice rack on the counter on in the cabinets, make a spice shelf on the side of the cabinet instead. Add small stickers below each one so you can easily grab the right spices without having to search through them all.

    Use Containers to Store Food

Sometimes food packaging can take up more room than it needs. For items such as cereals, pasta or nuts, using a container can keep them fresher for longer and can get rid of any packaging that is taking up valuable kitchen space. Airtight containers also look better and can keep your kitchen more organized.

    Don't Overbuy

Although this can be difficult if you are used to buying in bulk, overbuying when you have a small kitchen will make it even harder to cook and store food. Try sticking to what you need for the next few weeks. You can always set up monthly grocery deliveries online so you will always be restocked.

Following these 8 hacks will help you to make the most of that small kitchen.
