A Day at the Garden of Wales

    The Garden of Wales

On one of the cold but sunny days between Christmas and New Year we ventured off to visit the National Botanic Gardens of Wales . We've driven past it countless times but as it is only an hour away we thought we would while away a day there. So we wrapped up warm and headed over.

I didn't really know what to expect and was delighted with what I found. It was quiet, peaceful and eerily beautiful. Even though it was the middle of winter and so nothing was really in bloom there was still plenty to see and do and it was nice to be in the fresh air and learning a little too.

For the family of 5 (including a baby) it cost £24 to get in, and we were given £3 worth of vouchers to spend in the shop as we gift aided a portion of this as a donation. In the summer I think there would be a lot more to do there and you could stay longer so I think this would be good value. When we visited unfortunately the Fungi exhibit was closed and the cafe too, although the cafe just outside was open and did lovely hot chocolate.

It was really nice to take some photos of the flowers and plants and we'll definitely be heading back in the spring to see what has flowered and probably in the summer too - I imagine the place is so different in all the seasons.

Here are a few photos that I took when we were there. I did vlog the day out but unfortunately I think a small person has mislaid the micro SD card and those memories are lost until I find it!

What an interesting winter adventure. I look forward to seeing new photos in Spring or Summer. Good luck finding the SD card. That is one of my fears of losing USB sticks and SD cards. #TheOrdinaryMoments
