    A Very Special Daddy

    A Very Special Daddy

Today is Father's Day here in the UK. Father's day was never a big day to me when I was growing up. In actual fact I used to hate it. Other people had fun planning things for their father's whereas my parents split when I was very young, we rarely saw my dad and when we did he was awful to us. My only memory of father's day when I was a child is painting my dad a picture and proudly giving it him as a gift. He laughed at it and said he couldn't put it up anywhere as it was no good.

I never made him anything for father's day again.

I am so so grateful that my children have a wonderful father. One who enjoys spending time with them, who gets them dressed in the morning and baths them at night. He will get up at 2 am when one of them is crying and he will race home from work instantly if they need him. To many he is just what a dad should be, what they have grown up with, what they are used to from a dad - but for me this is extra special. We all want for our children what we didn't have and he gives them everything I didn't have.

I look forward to the day when the girls are older and he goes out to pick them up after a night out. I can't wait for him to take them to the bowling alley with their friends or even grill a new boy in their lives. I know he'll drive them to university, and pick them up again at a moments notice. I hope one day he'll walk them down the aisle at a wedding that I helped to plan and he helped to pay for.

Now we have a little boy I look forward to waving them off to rugby matches, to watching him at the sidelines cheering his little boy on. I look forward to watching their 'man to man' chats and seeing them enjoy their first beer together. I hope that when he grows up he looks up to his dad and aspires to be all that he is, and better.

He is our world, our rock, our supporter and our carer and we love him to the moon and back.

For all those special little moments, thank you Daddy.
