This summer I'm hoping to take our little family on our first camping trip. Now we are a family of 5, holidays are expensive and I think once we have bought all the camping gear it could be a great low cost way of getting away from it all and seeing some more of our beautiful country.
In preparation I've been looking at what to buy for our first camping trip with the kids and thought I would share it with you. Let me know if there is anything you think I have forgotten!!
1. A Tent
Obviously!! We are lucky that we are able to borrow one from a friend but we would need one that is easy to put up (preferably mainly by one person) and has separate living and sleeping areas.
2. Bedding
Sleeping bags, pillows and even blow up beds I think are a must as well as a couple of extra blankets in case it gets cold at night.
3. Eating equipment
A water carrier, plastic cutlery and crockery and some basic washing up things. A gas cooker and a couple of pans to cook some basic recipes. A cool box to keep cold things as cool as possible.
4. Entertainment
Some old fashioned games that don't need batteries or electricity - a ball, a pack of cards and some books and colouring should keep everyone busy for a while.
5. Miscellaneous
Toiletries, towels and flip flops for wearing in the communal bathroom. Clothes and swimwear. Backpacks for packing picnics for day trips. A portable charger for your mobile phone so you can use it in an emergency.
Wish us luck - I tried to whittle the list down to essentials but I still think we might need to get a roof box to fit it all in!

We went camping every year as children and I loved it. Still hoping to convince hubby to go camping at some point! x

we go camping 3 or 4 times a year and absolutely love it. I would highly recommend some wet wipes and something for lighting be it a torch or a proper camping light and some carrier bags and somewhere to sit. Its very hard to be minimalistic when camping with kids.
