    Conservation Crisis Game Review

    Aug 4, 2020 · Modified: Sep 18, 2022 by Ali · Leave a Comment

Advert disclosure - we were given this Conservation Crisis game in exchange for this review. All opinions are honest and our own. This post also contains affiliate links.

Like many families we have been playing a lot more board games together during lockdown. Luckily we love playing board games together and we were excited to be able to work on this Conservation Crisis game review. Conservation Crisis is a really unique game, unlike any I have played before. It's really educational too, we learnt so much about wildlife conservation and the realities of working in this area while playing this game.

    conservation crisis board game

Conservation Crisis is a strategy game where up to 4 players take control of a wildlife reserve in crisis and try to save an endangered species. Each player has a board and tokens to keep track of what they have bought and how many wildlife they have saved.

Each player is given funding of $100,000 each time they go around the board and they can choose to spend this in a variety of ways, building projects, hiring staff and building tourist accommodation.

A brilliant twist in the game is the bribe checkpoint, which can delay your gameplay if you don't pay a bribe. However, if you choose to pay the bribe, there may be unwanted consequences!

The aim of the game is to save the most wildlife. This is trickier than it sounds, balancing money and trying to keep your crisis fund topped up too means your brain gets a workout for sure! The game is aimed at children aged 7 plus and I think this is right as it is quite a complicated game to get to grips with, although the more you play it you get into the swing of it. You can play it over and over again, refining your strategy each time and the cards are different each time so the results could be completely different!

Conservation Crisis retails for £29.99 and £2 from each sale is split between four beneficiary charities - The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, The Pole Pole Foundation UK, The CCG Trust and Tusk. You can buy the game on Amazon or on the Tunza Games website. I have also been given a game to give away to one of my lucky readers so don't forget to head over to the giveaway post to be in with a chance of winning!
