ESSENTIAL ITEMS TO PACK FOR A TRIP TO FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND

    May 9, 2023 · Modified: May 11, 2024 by Ali · Leave a Comment

    Colab post

Far North Queensland is a stunning place to visit. Whether you want to lay on Mission Beach to soak up some of the beautiful sunshine, experience the Great Barrier Reef first-hand, or take a scenic train ride-there is something here for everyone.

If you're planning a trip to this enigmatic part of the world, you are probably wondering what to take with you. Here are some packing tips to help you make a start.

    Remember the tropical climate.

As with all tropical paradises, summer lasts all year round. Yes, winter does exist and if you go during this period you will find a slight dip in the temperature and humidity, but it still remains overwhelmingly pleasant. In fact, Queensland is one of the warmest areas in Australia, with an average daily high of 30 degrees. The high temperatures combined with the relaxed atmosphere of the area mean that most restaurants and bars are casual.

As such, summer dresses, loose t-shirts, linen shirts, khaki shorts or lightweight vests would be ideal items to pack. Flip-flops are popular footwear, and summer hats are often worn too.

    Sunglasses and sunscreen

When going to such a warm and sunny climate, these things are a must! Pack several tubes of sunscreen and make sure you use it even in the winter or if it's cloudy, as the UV rays in this part of the world are persistently strong.

    Trainers or similar footwear

Trainers are ideal if you plan to go for a walk in the bush or you intend to explore some of the nearby countryside. If you fancy going to one of the local national parks, then again, you need a good comfortable pair of trainers to ensure you can enjoy yourself.

    Swimwear

I defy you to visit Far North Queensland without taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters at some point. The sea is beautifully warm and the beaches are irresistible. As such, comfortable and lightweight swimwear is a must for any trip. If you're feeling a little more adventurous, then a snorkel and goggles can also come in handy - although these can be rented when you get there too. A good wet bag will help you travel back from your day at the beach.

    Camera

Taking photos is an important part of any holiday. You will want to show photos to your friends and family when you return home. You will also want to be able to refresh your memories in years to come by looking back at them. The stunning scenery, wonderful wildlife and the local attractions in Far North Queensland will all make perfect additions to your photo album.

    Mosquito spray

Australia is famous for its 'mozzies'. An insect repellent or mosquito spray will help you tackle them.

    Reusable bottle

In any hot climate, it's important to stay hydrated. Carrying around a reusable drinks bottle can help you maintain a healthy liquid intake and means you always have a drink at hand when you need it.

If you're visiting Far North Queensland then taking a scenic train is a great way to see a lot of the scenery and ensure you don't miss anything. The Spirit of Queensland allows you to travel through wonderfully picturesque landscapes in style and comfort. When night falls and the scenery becomes harder to see, entertainment and food are at hand until you are ready to go to sleep.
