From biotin to probiotics, just about any supplement is available in gummy form today, and that includes CBD, officially known as cannabidiol. The therapeutic ingredient in cannabis that doesn't get you "high," is known for improving sleep, easing pain, reducing anxiety, and a number of other benefits. The Intrado GlobalNewsWire reported recently that the global market for CBD gummies is expected to reach nearly $14 billion by 2028, thanks to CBD's exceptional medicinal properties minus any potentially harmful side effects.

Of course, if you've never taken a CBD product, you're probably wondering how much of a CBD gummy should you eat. The answer can't be found on the bottle itself because there is no one universal answer. Every CBD consumer is different and the optimal dose can be affected by your particular body chemistry, weight, the benefits you're hoping to receive, and more. Whether you're taking CBD gummies or any other form of CBD, it's best to start small, increasing intake incrementally until you find relief.

    Where to Begin

As the answer to how many CBD gummies to eat isn't simple, you'll need to do some calculation. They come in a range of concentrations, often starting at 5 milligrams (mg) each, although some may be as strong as 25 mg or even higher. What you'll need to do is translate the total dosage into the number of gummies based on the type and strength of the brand. Of course the total dosage to take varies depending on body chemistry, weight, the desired effect and condition being addressed. Even using these factors you may not get the dosage that's perfect for you personally on the first try.

Generally, it's best to start with a low dose and then gradually increase the amount until achieving the desired effect. You could even start as low as 2.5 mg, eating half a gummy that contains 5 mg. If you'd rather take into consideration various factors, potentially getting a more accurate and effective dosage from the beginning, continue on.

    Body Chemistry

Body chemistry is tricky as you won't really know how your body will react until you actually try CBD. By starting with a low dosage you can determine whether or not you might experience any adverse effects. If there are any, they are generally mild and might include fatigue, dry mouth, and reduced appetite. Increase the dosage slowly to produce maximum effectiveness without any side effects. If you notice any side effects you might want to try a different brand, looking for one that's been more rigorously tested to ensure that it doesn't contain THC, for example.

    What You're Using CBD For

What you're using CBD for matters. It can be consumed to treat everything from arthritis pain to epileptic seizures, nausea, and IBS. For example, the Arthritis Foundation has recommended

Starting with just a few milligrams twice a day and then increasing the dose by the same amount after a week if you're not getting the pain relief you need.

    Your Weight

Your weight is a good predictor of how your body will handle many different substances, including alcohol and CBD. You can use it to determine your starting dosage, with 11 mg or less generally recommended for someone who weighs less than 130 pounds. An individual who weighs 130 to 230 pounds might start with 18 mg or less, while someone who is 230 pounds or more is often advised to begin with 23 mg or less. As those recommendations are fairly wide ranging you can also follow another formula, taking 1 mg per 10 pounds of body weight.
