We like to eat out as a family at the weekends. We work really hard in the week and we find it really relaxing to go out for a meal together, it gives us time to reconnect as a family and means that we get a day off cooking and washing up!
Last weekend we were invited to the Toby Carvery in Whitchurch Cardiff as they have recently renovated their restaurant. It was a gorgeous sunny day and when we arrived there was plenty of parking onsite and seats outside in the sun at the front for people to sit and have a drink.
The decor inside is lovely, really homely, clean and welcoming. They clearly have a loyal clientele and it was really family friendly and relaxed. I think it would be lovely and cosy in the winter especially.
We were seated straight away and our waitress was so helpful, explaining all the menu options, and showing us the vegetarian and vegan options. It was nice to see plenty of vegan options on the main menu and vegan and vegetarian choices on the children's menu too.
Our waitress also introduced us to the Toby Carvery app which you can download on your phone and will give you money off vouchers and special offers. We were able to take advantage of their kids eat for £1 offer as it was half term. She also gave us some colouring to keep the children entertained!
The children ordered vegetarian options, Little Boy went for tomato pasta (vegan) which came with vegetable crudités.
The girls both opted for Quorn sausages and had vegetables from the carvery buffet.
I had the spiced carrot and chickpea wellington. If you are vegan you can ask for non glazed vegetables instead of the ones at the buffet.
Hubby went for the meat option where you can choose from gammon, beef, turkey and pork. You can have unlimited vegetables with your meal and there is a wide range of sauces and gravy too.
The girls were delighted with the unlimited drinks station and had lots of fun mixing up different drinks!
For dessert I was pleased that again they had vegan options on the main and children's menu. The children went for sundaes and make your own ice creams and hubby had a freakshake which was amazing! We were so full by the end of our meal!
I thought that the venue was perfect for a family meal, very welcoming and inviting and you get really great value for money. There were plenty of menu options for vegetarians and vegans and hubby was very happy with his meat carvery! We'd definitely recommend visiting here for a family meal and I know that we'll visit again ourselves too.
We actually made a video of our weekend for our YouTube channel, so do check it out if you want to see more of our lunch at the Toby Carvery and what we got up to the rest of the weekend.

Wow! What a feast. I've never been to a Toby but have heard great things. I love that you get unlimited veg and kids eating for £1 is such a great offer.

As a vegetarian, I was delighted to read your review. I'm sometimes apprehensive to go to pubs from big chains, they look fab, but I felt I couldn't get a few options to chose from. Now I would love to try Toby Carvery, and I think my husband (also veggie), would like it too.

I love going to the carvery with the family, I didn't realise just how well they cater for vegans and vegetarians. Something for everyone!
