When The Fine Bedding Company got in touch to see if we wanted to review one of their coverless duvets I was a bit sceptical. As someone who washes our bedding weekly, I wondered how clean it would be to have a duvet that didn’t have a cover on and how difficult it would be to wash it. It’s safe to say that all my fears were unfounded and we love our coverless duvet so much I’m planning on buying more!
Disclosure - we were given the Night Owl duvet featured in this post free of charge in exchange for a review. All opinions are honest and our own.
All about the Night Owl Coverless Duvet
Made from a unique fibre fill consisting of recycled PET the Night Owl coverless duvet is designed to be lightweight and is easily compressed, which makes it easy to store, ready for any occasion.
The coverless duvet comes in two thicknesses, a year round 10.5 tog and a summer 4.5 tog. It has a soft outer fabric and is wonderfully warm and comfortable. It manages to be lightweight and warm at the same time!
This duvet is available in pink, blue, white, green and grey and the sizes single, double and king. We have the single size and it is perfect for my little boy’s bed. It’s really easy for him to make his bed with this duvet on and he loves snuggling up in it.
How to wash your coverless duvet
I have washed our coverless duvet a couple of times already and it washes beautifully. Sometimes when you put a duvet through the washing machine it comes out lumpy but there was none of that and it dried really easily too – I hung it on the banister for a day and night but you can also dry it on a radiator or in the tumble drier if you wanted it dry quickly.
It will fit easily into a standard washing machine drum (7kg+) and can be washed at 40 degrees Celsius with regular detergent. It is tumble dry safe, but to be careful use your dryer on a cooler setting. Your Night Owl coverless duvet can be dry in as little as 90 minutes – perfect for washing and using again the same day - and a bonus is that there are no duvet covers to iron!
A coverless duvet – perfect for guests
Another reason I really like this coverless duvet is for keeping as a spare for guests. If someone comes to stay unexpectedly, at short notice or for whatever reason it is so easy to grab this out of the cupboard – no faffing around putting a duvet cover on and you can just throw it in the washing machine when your guests have gone. Sometimes we have given children who come for a sleepover a sleeping bag to use, but these coverless duvets are so much easier to wash and much more comfortable too.
The perfect sofa blanket
At the moment we have used this duvet pretty much every day for snuggling up on the sofa underneath and watching Christmas films, keeping warm through this cold snap and saving us a bit of money on the heating bills! I can imagine that we will be fighting over it come Christmas time so I am definitely going to be buying another one!
The Night Owl Duvet comes in lots of different colour, style and size options and prices start from £40. We have the cloud grey colour way as I thought that it would go with a lot of things and I am really pleased with it, it makes a fabulous addition to our home.
