But there are ways to create a modern kid's bedroom that is also maintainable and will keep them happy for years.
Love the walls
If you're going to create a lasting impression on the bedroom, it's a good idea to get the walls sorted. If they're in bad shape, it's no good simply covering them up. It's better to start from scratch and make everything good as new. Get those walls freshly skimmed with new plaster, before going any further.

Kids' beds are available in so many shapes and sizes these days, but some are going to last longer than others. So, check what they're made from and how they're held together. Thin laminate or veneer is going to look shabby pretty quickly. Well-made wooden furniture is usually more expensive, but it could last a lifetime. And if you're going to buy a new bed, make sure it's full-size. Otherwise, they're going to grow out

For example, kids bunk beds or beds with a simple loft or extra storage can be especially useful in smaller rooms. To create a modern kid's bedroom like this will be quite expensive initially. Especially with the cost to plaster a room, buy new furniture and lay new flooring. But the maintenance and changes needed as your child grows will be much less. So, with careful planning, you could save money over time.
