TONKA originated in 1947 in Minnesota and they were originally manufactured by a company that manufactured garden implements. Fast forward to 2021 and the company now primarily manufacture metal toys, these beautiful TONKA Mighty Metal Fleet being their newest offering. They are sturdy and made to last, which is just what we need in our house. These TONKA trucks are the perfect antidote to modern day throwaway culture. These are toys that are designed and made to last and to be passed on through generations.
Having four children has meant that our toys have seen a lot of use. When the boys arrived I quickly realised that the toys we were buying needed to be of a high quality and sturdy to withstand their energetic play style! I would much rather own fewer, high quality toys as the boys get so much more use out of them and I don't need to worry about them constantly breaking!
We received the Mighty Dump Truck and Garbage Truck to review. They are both beautiful, bright and vibrant toys and Little Boy couldn't wait to get them out to play. There is something about dump trucks and garbage trucks that really appeals to him and he was delighted to have his own set to play with. They are really robust toys and have a good weight and size to them.
He spent the next hour crashing them about with his brother and generally having a whale of a time. We have also played with them in the garden and they are perfect toys to take outside and play with too. Little Boy loves filling the dump truck up with sand and tipping it out.
I love that I'll be able to pass these toys onto his younger brother and then onto friends or family, or even save for future grandchildren! There really is something special about toys that are made to last and these TONKA Mighty Metal Fleet really will.
