I absolutely love this time of year, getting back to school and getting organised in the home and with work, it really makes me happy! As a child I used to love picking out new stationary for the new academic year and I am no different now. One of my favourite shops for good quality and good value stationary is The Works. Here are my top 10 back to school stationery must haves from there.
Harry Potter Gold Stationery set - my 9 year old daughter is Harry Potter obsessed so I know this would go down really well. This set contains all the basics that you will need, including pens, a highlighter, notebook, a ruler, a pencil sharpener and eraser.
To go with this stationary set is this roomy Harry Potter pencil case. I love pencil cases with pockets to keep different items in and this looks perfect.
Scribblicious Fine Line Coloured Pens - we own these and they are a thing of beauty! Fine lined coloured pens for more detailed drawing and colouring and just look at that rainbow of colours! This is great if you know that your child will be working with English GCSE tutors, as having colour-coordinated text can sometimes help them to distinguish between nouns, verbs and adjectives.
Set of 20 high quality acrylic paints - These are such great value at only £6 for a pack of 20. This gives you a whole variety of colours to work with and would make a great gift too.
10 Piece Brush set - these would go really well as a gift set with the acrylics paints above and again is such great value for a variety of good quality brushes.
A4 Wiro Outside the Box Lined Notebook - a notebook is an absolute must back to school essential for me. I always had one in my school bag, and I'm always buying new notepads for my home office. This A4 size is perfect for my 13 year old to fit and carry in her bag and ensures she always has something to write on when in school.
If you have older children they will almost certainly need to have a scientific calculator to take to school and also to do their homework and exams. This enables them to work out more complicated sums and equations that a normal calculator can't deal with.
Another must buy if your child is in secondary school is a maths set like this one, with a protractor and set squares etc. which they need for working out angles and also has some added extras like a stencil set and a times tables guide.
If your child is interested in art then this useful practical watercolour book, Paint Play: 21 Easy Watercolour Techniques, might be of use. It's great for helping learning about art techniques outside of school, especially if you are home schooling.
Finally, a dictionary is really useful. This pocket sized one is perfect for home and school. Looking up new words in the dictionary as your child discovers them really helps to cement the meaning into their mind, and can help with more complicated spellings.
