There's loads to see and explore outside of the touristy centre.
We used to stay in the Oude West area near Der Hallen, the old tram sheds that have been converted into unique shops and has a massive food hall!
There are many markets which take place regularly outside the centre which are also very busy.
Westerpark is a very good day out. The old gas works which has been converted into a park/nature reserve. Some interesting shops there also!
