My girls have always loved playing with hair - they've spent lots of time running the hairbrush through mine, tying it up, trying to plait it and just having lots of fun! It's not so much fun for me though - if you have experienced the pain of a little one dragging a hairbrush through your hair you'll know what I mean!
I was particularly excited to be sent the new Barbie Flip and Reveal Deluxe Styling Head to review, and not only because it heralded the end of my role as a hairdressing dummy!
This styling head is really something special. Barbie has both blonde and pink hair and you can flip it over to show just the blonde, just the pink or as Little Miss J liked it to show a bit of both. She also isn't just a styling head, she has moveable hands and you can give her a manicure too!
She comes with an array of accessories, including a hairbrush, styling brush, several hair clips and elastics, a hair extension, as well as brushes to change her nail colour, stickers and false nails to give her a manicure and a pen to colour the blonde hair too.
Little Miss J spent ages brushing her hair and using the hair clips as stencils to colour shapes on her hair. She also loved using the purple brush with the pen to colour bigger strips of the hair.
We then plaited it and clipped it back. I really enjoyed teaching Little Miss J how to plait hair and I think with a bit of practice she'll manage it herself.
You can change the colour of Barbie's nails and lips using warm and cold water which is lots of fun and much less messy than nail varnish or lipstick! You can also use the stickers and false nails to give her a manicure. We found the false nails a little tricky to apply, the stickers were much easier.
Barbie Flip & Reveal Deluxe Styling Head retails at 39.99 and is suitable for ages 3+. You can buy it on Amazon (affiliate link).
It's #StylingHeadMonth and UKmums.tv are holding a Twitter Frenzy on 13th April 1-2pm - see you there!
