5 Cool Home Design Trends for 2020

    Jun 17, 2020 by Ali · Leave a Comment

When it comes to buildings and architecture, the design’s beauty is contained in its ability to adapt and take on new features that enhance its functionality and style. 2020 has seen the rise of design trends that exemplify how dynamic, unique, and functional buildings can be while maintaining style and elegance. Whether you are looking for some inspiration for your new building project or looking for some home makeover ideas, here are some home design trends of 2020.

    Curvy Or Curved Shapes

This is a case of going way back into the 60s and 70s and bringing back the curvy style designs with a modern feel. Although the use of curved furniture feels like a throwback, few people can argue with how seamlessly the trend fits into modern architecture and interior decor. The curves and contours seem to blend beautifully and easily with almost any kind of modern home.

    Earth-Toned Colours

Now let’s talk about colours. Although most designers are now turning towards darker solid colours such as black for the interior, there is a new trend making its way - earth tone colours. Designers are beginning to embrace the unique tone that earth colours add to interiors, and homeowners seem to be loving it too. Plus, earth tone colours blend easily with wooden furniture.

    Multipurpose Spaces

With more and more households taking on the challenge of learning or working from home, multipurpose rooms or spaces are becoming a new trend. Also, as more people find ways to make use of limited apartment spaces, the idea of single-purpose rooms will soon be fading away. Designers are also helping to make multipurpose spaces more possible by, for example, coupling the kitchen and dining areas into one space. Others are finding ways to incorporate their work stations into their living rooms and even bedrooms. Designers such as Scenario Architecture are using the power of technology to create the kind of living spaces that revolve around the homeowner(s).

    Metallic Touch

2020 is beginning to have a deeper relationship of metals as far as home design trends are concerned. More designers are trying out different kinds of furniture and metallic finishing with a touch of gold, silver, tin, or copper. However, if you intend to try this trend for the first time, you have to be very measured in your approach, as it takes very little to do too much. You can also try different kinds of metal mix for a unique effect. But be careful not to go beyond three different metal mixtures.

    Climate Conscious Improvements

The climate change campaign is having a positive effect on design trends this year. This is especially true in areas such as insulation, lighting, and home heating. Several homeowners and designers are taking energy-efficient solutions into consideration when making home improvements. More home buyers are beginning to opt for homes with already installed solar panels. Many homeowners are also investing in solar panels as a way of reducing the cost of power long term. Ceiling fans are also slowly gaining popularity over air conditioners.
