Hooray for the fact that our family photo July 2020 is taken than 5 miles from our house! It feels so good not to have a travel restriction anymore, although realistically we haven't actually adventured very far yet.
This photo was taken in Cowbridge Physic Gardens which are free to visit and it's just so lovely there. It's only small but the plants are very well cared for and it's really interesting to learn all about different plants and their old medicinal uses. I actually have an app on my phone now called Picture This which is brilliant - you take a picture of a flower or a plant and it identifies it for you and tells you all about it. It's been so educational and actually helps to make a simple walk out more interesting and fun.
Funny story about this photo - I had set up the camera propped up on the fountain in the middle of the gardens and set the self timer. As it was counting down from 10 the phone started to slip, it took the photo just before it fell off - hence the slightly odd angle of the photo here! I didn't take another because I love a photo with a story behind it and a funny memory to remember!
If you are visiting the Physic gardens, take a picnic and head around the corner to the grass, it's always lovely and quiet. There are also fish in the pond who love a few flapjack crumbs! After lunch have a little potter around the Cowbridge shops. There are lots of independent shops and there are always some great finds in the charity shops too. My absolutely favourite shop is Happy Days Vintage Home Store. You'll find so many little gems in here and they have a fabulous little tea room too with such friendly staff (probably not open just yet at the time of writing because of the Covid 19 restrictions).
Are you travelling a bit further now that restrictions have been lifted?
Take a look at my other family photos from previous years...
