Dinosaur Babies At The National Museum Cardiff

    May 28, 2017 by Ali · 14 Comments

On Saturday we were invited into Cardiff Museum for the opening launch of their new exhibition Dinosaur Babies. Excitement has been building in Cardiff for the last week with strange happenings over the city, huge dinosaur footprints, a broken statue, a big dinosaur poo, damaged shops...

However all was revealed on Saturday - there was just a big dinosaur wanting to protect it's babies and show everyone how dinosaur babies lived millions of years ago.

The exhibit was opened by Lizzy Daly and we were really impressed with what the exhibit had to offer. It is really designed with children in mind, there are lots of hands on elements and something for all ages. I learnt so much, as did my girls. The information was set out in a really great way so that it was easy to pick up.

The hands on elements really helped the children learn a lot while keeping it fun.

There were so many amazing models on display, it is truly fascinating to see how tiny the baby dinosaurs were when they first hatch. There are full size replica skeletons on display as well as a moving model which the children loved!

I didn't know that they had different shaped eggs. You can tell what sort of dinosaur eggs belonged to which dinosaur by their shape and texture.

There's something for all ages, even a fantastic soft pretend archeological dig site which Little Boy and Little Miss J absolutely loved.

The exhibition is open until November 5th 2017 and costs £7 for adults, £5 concessions, £3 children, £17/£13 for families. You can buy tickets online here or on the day at the museum.

Over May half term there are family workshops going on. They are running from 29 May-2 June 2017 at 11am, 1pm, 3pm.

I'd definitely recommend making the trip to see this exhibition. We had a wonderful time there. We made a little video of our morning there too...

A big thank you to The National Museum Cardiff for inviting us to see this exhibition and giving us entry free of charge for the purpose of this review.
