If you have a desk job you will know that sitting at your desk all day can play havoc with your health. Sitting still all day has been linked to back pain, repetitive stress injuries and obesity. I know that I often feel sluggish and uncomfortable if I have set at my desk for a long time so I try to move around as much as possible but this is difficult if I have a deadline or a lot of work to get done. I was sent the Flexispot Desk Bike to review and it has been a total game changer!
How to set up the Flexispot Exercise Desk
Setting the Flexispot Deskcise Pro up was really easy - but it is very heavy. The desk part simply slips onto the main bike part and is secured with a bolt. Then it is just a case of pulling out the wheeled legs and the pedals, adjusting it to the correct height for you and off you go! As I said it is very heavy which is great as it doesn't move when you are using it and the moveable legs on wheels means it is easy to make it have a smaller footprint for storing and easy to roll across the room if you want to move it to a different area.
The Flexispot bike desk has an adjustable seat and adjustable desk meaning it can be used by a wide range of people. The desk can be adjusted forwards and backwards as well as up and down meaning that you can adjust it so that you can type comfortably without leaning forward. The desktop is spacious with plenty of room for my laptop, external memory drive and a small notebook. It has lockable wheeled casters so it can be moved around when needed.
The Flexispot Deskcise Pro v9 has 8 resistance levels so you can adjust your workout to the right pace. If you are in an online meeting for example you might want to stick to the lower resistance levels but if you are just reading a report you could ramp it up a little. The exercise bike is very quiet so the sound of it doesn't distract when you are working.
There is also a digital display which shows readings for workout time, calories burned and speed so you can keep a track of your fitness progress. Lastly it has a non-slip drinks holder so you can keep your hydration levels up at the same time.
If you have a suitable desk already at home you can convert it into a bike desk of sorts by just buying the base of the Flexispot Pro, without the desktop - you can then slip it underneath any desk you like and use it in the same way as an exercise bike desk.
I found that having a stationary bike desk in my home office has really meant that I have been able to keep my exercise up. It is so easy to jump on there with my laptop for half an hour and read a report or watch a webinar whilst working out. I feel really productive doing the two things together as I am extremely time poor anyway as a working mum to four children! I am sure that using the Flexispot pro will help me with my weight loss goal for 2022 too.
The Flexispot Pro Deskcise v9 is definitely going to be a permanent fixture in my home office next to my cross trainer and yoga mat.
I made a YouTube video showing how to put the Flexispot desk bike together and showing its features which will be interesting if you are looking to purchase one.
The Flexispot exercise bike retails for £399.99 without the desktop or £439.99 with the desk component. It is available in white or black. You can get £40 off until the 11th February with the discount code JAV9.
Yes - it takes only a few minutes and only needs 1 bolt! Everything you need is in the box.
Using an exercise desk is always going to be better than sitting at a stationary desk. I can burn 200 calories in a gentle cycling session lasting 40 minutes while I am working.
