Spooky season is creeping up at a scarily fast pace! If youโre looking for a light-hearted part or festival to attend in Cardiff this year, then hereโs your rundown on whatโs happening.
Barry Island dark run
13th October, 2023
Don your fancy dress and come along to Barry Island for a glowing, neon excursion in the dark. You can either walk or run; either way, itโll be a lot of fun! This event raises money for Tลท Hafan, an organisation that supports children with life-shortening conditions.
The best costume will get a prize! After you have worn yourself out, youโll find it super convenient to hop on the train home from Barry to Cardiff Central.
Ghoul School at Techniquest
Weekends in October & first part of half-term
This hair-raising live science show is something that kids over the age of 5 and adults alike will find thrilling. Gather around in the auditorium as one of our presenters shows you some of our experiments in action.
It takes place in the Theatr Wyddonniaeth and itโs quite interactive. Fire and chemicals are on the list of things that could be involved! You should also be aware that it includes a loud bang.
Rave in a Cave โ Halloween Special
31st October, 2023
Cardiffโs favourite Australian-themed bar is hosting an amazing Halloween party on the night itself. Party the night away to some of the best R&B tunes and party anthems. There will be lasers. There will be confetti. Come along in your best caveman or cavewoman garb and see if you can end the night holding the prize for the best outfit.
Pumpkin patch picking at Penlynn Estate
14th-31st October, 2023
Grab some friends or family members and pick your very own pumpkins. Orange pumpkins, green pumpkins, blue pumpkins and pumpkins with as many warts as those latex witch masks they sell every year. There are over 20 varieties on the farm, meaning you can quite literally take your pick!
And thatโs not all. Navigate your way around the ghoulishly shaped maize maze, take some memorable snaps with the Halloween-themed props and come see the alpacas.
Visiting with kids? Theyโll be delighted as they take a tractor-trailer ride across the field or climb the hay bale tower. Brave wanderers can peek inside Cauldron Cottage.
For a small charge, you can pick your pumpkins at twilight for a truly immersive and spooky experience. Or try your hand at Pumpkin Catapult, a fun game where you find out how good your aim is as you splat various villains. For children, face painting is another fun option!
The fun doesnโt stop there. Once you get home, try your hand at pumpkin carving or baking some tasty pumpkin pie.
October is about to get spookier in the Welsh capital! Are you ready for it?
