Since I started wholeheartedly following a vegan diet in January I haven't looked back. I know that following a vegan (well, plant based) diet is much better for me, the environment and for animal welfare. I won't lie though, I really do miss my easy sweet treats - cookies, donuts, cakes etc. What I've found useful is to make a batch of a sweet vegan treat to keep on hand for when I get those inevitable sweet chocolate cravings.
I've been scouring vegan cookbooks and blogs for new recipes to try out and I'm really enjoying getting in the kitchen more at the weekend and making some sweet treats with the children. Sometimes they like eating them just as much as they like making them!
Anyway, the blogger community is quite amazing so I thought that I would put out a shout out for my fellow bloggers to share some of their favourite vegan recipes. I had a lot of responses so I'm putting together a whole series of posts for you, today starting off with these yummy vegan treats. I hope that they give you some inspiration and show you that vegans need not miss out on yummy food at all, there are so many great recipes out there!
These brownies look so moist and delicious and they are also paleo, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, grain-free, egg-free and flourless.
2. No Knead Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread
I love cinnamon buns and have been missing them so much! I love that this recipe is no knead - it really takes the effort out of making them.
I'm going to make these for when the kids go back to school - they sound perfect for me - the right kind of pick me up in the middle of the day. They are made from only 5 ingredients and only take 15 minutes to make.
4. Easy Vegan Blueberry Muffins
Oh boy who doesn't love a blueberry muffin! I love the little pops of juicy goodness you get when you bite into a blueberry. Vegans don't have to miss out with this vegan friendly recipe.
5. Peanut Butter Banana Brownies
I'm not actually a fan of peanut butter but I know that so many of you love it so I had to include this recipe. They look so gooey I'm sure they'll be a big hit with you peanut butter fans.
Here is another recipe that is not only vegan but they are also paleo, low carb, keto, dairy free and gluten free. I've been missing my usual key lime pie bake so these will be a great alternative.
7. Four Ingredient Bounty Bars
I love a recipe which doesn't have an ingredients list a mile long and what gets better than a vegan bounty bar?!
How delicious and wholesome do these look? They are full of goodness and I love the chocolate drizzle!
9. Raw chocolate and cherry fudge
This looks like the perfect snack for enjoying in front of the TV in the evenings, I love the taste of cherry and chocolate together.
10. Apple and Cinnamon Muffin Pots
Oh I love apple and cinnamon and these cute little muffin pots would make the perfect sweet treat! I would eat them with alpro vanilla yoghurt.
11. Gluten Free Vegan Oatmeal Cookies
Cookies are the perfect post school treat for my kiddies and I confess to enjoying one or two with a cuppa myself so these are the perfect family snack.
12. Chocolate Avocado Flourless Muffins
I only recently discovered the amazing things that you can make with chocolate and avocado, I can't wait to try these.
13. Five ingredient sugar-free chocolate Nutella truffles
Oh boy do I miss Nutella, but I keep reminding myself how bad it is for you. This recipe is amazingly sugar free so that means I can eat them all to myself right?!
14.ย Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Baked Oatmeal Bars
I love almond butter and this picture has me dreaming about these bars - they would be perfect as a mid morning snack.
15. Peanut butter cup quinoa energy bites
I've been trying to get more quinoa into my diet because it's high in protein and every little bit counts right?!
16. Paleo Date and Coconut Balls
I'll confess that I don't really know what paleo means but these date and coconut balls are completely plant based and sound delicious.
17. Vegan Cherry, Chocolate and Banana Bread
We always have a few spare bananas that we turn into banana bread. This recipe adds an extra twist, I love the sound of cherry and chocolate in the mix.
I read a book recently that said you should eat beans with every meal so a few in these brownies can't hurt! Elizabeth assures us that these brownies taste like fudge and you can't taste the beans at all.
19. Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Just how good do these look? Full of vegan chocolate chips and smooth almond butter I bet they taste just as good too.
I trust that this post has given you plenty of inspiration so you can make some delicious vegan sweet treats at home - the problem is which recipe to choose first!
