Every year around the children's birthdays I like to write a post looking back on their last year, showing a photo from each month. I love writing these posts, not only because I love looking back on old photos but because it's easy to forget all the fabulous things we have done and I'd love for them to be able to look back at these posts when they are older. It's always scary looking back on photos from a year ago and thinking how little they were then!
March 2017
March was bit of a non starter month really. After celebrating Bean's 10th birthday in style with a sleepover and spa day Little Boy got really sick and we spent the rest of March getting him better. I love this photo of Little Miss J that I took though, it shows her little unique personality starting to develop!
In March we finally finished decorating our bedroom and I became the proud new owner of a 'beauty table' to sit at and do my make up. Little Miss J absolutely loved it and I still find her sitting there most mornings, doing her hair and make up! She made the picture that's above the mirror at school and I had it framed to fit there, I absolutely love it.
April
In April we went to see our first football match - at Cardiff City Stadium. A wonderful first experience, we had a brilliant time cheering Cardiff on!
We also took a little holiday up to West Wales and spent lots of time in the fresh air and on the beach.
May
In May we were blessed with some lovely weather and had lots of lovely photo opportunities outside. We even had a day on the beach in the holidays!
June
The weather looked like it was glorious again looking back on the photos! Little Miss J loves to help me around the house, and she's doing just that here - watering the plants. She absolutely loves gardening and is always helping Nanny in the garden.
She also took her ballet exams and did really well! For someone who's quite shy she certainly does well in dancing!
July
In July we had the Scout and Guide fete which Little Miss J took part in with her Rainbows group. She couldn't have had more fun!
The summer holidays also started and we kicked it off by going to watch the Speedway GP which we all absolutely loved. Just how grown up does she look here?!
We also took a little break, just her and I to Bath for a little spa treat! It was so lovely to spend some quality one on one time with each other, we'll definitely be doing the same next year.
August
We had the best summer holidays. The weather wasn't great but we spent lots of time together. I adore this photo of the two of us taken by Sweet Whimsy Photography and this photo of Little Miss J pushing her brother on the last day of the holidays.
We also went camping with some friends from school which was great fun, although the weather was awful!
September
We started September in style with a little holiday down to Cornwall. It was really lovely and the perfect way to relax before school went back.
Little Miss J started Year 2 in September and proudly took her little brother with her. Just look at her holding his hand in this pic!
We also started hunting Snowdogs in aid of Ty Hafan which was lots of fun!
October
In October we had a lovely visit to Bristol Zoo which is somewhere we love and haven't visited for ages. Little Miss J enjoyed her favourite treat - hot chocolate and a victoria sponge!
We also went for a little pumpkin photoshoot - I was so in love with the photos I took - I mean just look at this light!
November
We had a little family trip to London which was lots of fun. We visited all our favourite haunts and Little Miss J picked up this pug toy from Harrods and this cute jumper from Camden market. Can you tell she's a fan of pugs?!
So much so that later in November we got a new addition to our family...Little Miss J absolutely adores her! The night we picked Lexi the puppy up and brought her home it was a surprise and Little Miss J couldn't believe it! I remember her saying that she hoped when she woke up it wouldn't have all been a dream!
December
December was totally jam packed with Christmas events, meeting Santa and driving to find some snow! Little Miss J couldn't remember the last time it snowed as she was too young so when it snowed but didn't settle where we are, I knew we had to go on an adventure to find some - and we did! She made this snowman called Bob and she had an amazing time!
We also took Lexi for her first walk on Christmas Day which she absolutely loved!
January
January gave us the opportunity to go on lots of cold walks - I took her through the woods near our house to the top of a hill where it looks like you are on top of the world. She was suitably impressed!
We also went on a little shopping trip all on our own to find her the perfect party dress for her party. It was the first time we had done something like that together (she normally hates shopping) and it was so lovely to see how grown up she is getting.
February
February brought with it all the excitement of turning 7! She had a joint party with two of her friends and had a lovely time.
We love you so much Little Miss J, I hope that you had a fantastic year and that next year is even better!
